Start the onslaught of oxymorons here.
Living in a vehicle, be it a truck or other means of automobile – is the essence of minimalism.
So who would have thought a slight upgrade in mobile home size would add so much stuff? It eats away at my soul just how much stuff you need to operate an RV.
All of a sudden ‘essentials that add value to your life’ have become ‘essentials because you need a shitter hose, and then a hose to clean the shitter hose, and then a shitter wagon to empty the shitter hose into….’ And so forth.
I was excited to put my personal touch on my new home, but now I can’t even afford the attachment for the shitter hose. There is so many parts and pieces, it crazy overwhelming. Do I have the skills to drive this thing around and park it, hook it up to all sorts of things, and then disconnect it from all the things and move on? The truck was simple – no connections, just park, sleep, and move on. My life just got a lot more complicated, all the for the sake of being able to stand in my occupy-able space. Also for the AC.
I think back on all the people I’ve come into contact with at RV parks – if they can do I can do it too, right?
They also are almost aways in pairs… slightly concerning, but adds to my stubbornness that I can complete these challenges on my own.
So a min buys a camper, and starts buying all the shit for shitter stuff that she can find. This is certainly an odd one for me, and I’m fighting it as much as I can…I’ve learned from experience you cannot plan for things like this – if you’ll ACTUALLY need them or not. But it seems like a shitter hose you kind of need. Among other things. It’s almost like getting a brand new house that has nothing, you have to hook up your own electrical power, water, and so on. And to think you haul your house and all your pricey stuff down the road at 80 mph.
Dear lord, what am I doing.

Welcome to the RV experience. It gets easier after a couple of trips.
